SDS 5.4.1 Intent.

A development which is not of the size or scale to meet the standards for a defined development pattern shall be oriented to face towards a street; a building that turns its back to the street tends to give a lifeless and dull quality to the streetscape.

Standard:

SDS 5.4.2 Orientation.

When there is no more than one building in a proposed development and the building is not part of a larger planned development or the development is not of the size or scale to meet the standards for a defined development pattern, the building shall orient its active wall toward the primary abutting street. Deep setbacks behind large expanses of parking or vacant land shall be avoided.

SDS 5.4.3 Active Wall.

The active wall shall be the side of the building containing the majority of storefronts, public entrances and windows.

A building occupied by a single tenant shall orient 100% of its active wall to the primary abutting street.

SDS 5.4.5 Multi Tenant Building.
