16.320.907.6.6

Section 907.6.6 of the International Fire Code is hereby amended to read as follows:

907.6.6 Monitoring. Fire alarm systems required by this chapter or by the International Building Code shall be monitored by an approved supervisory station in accordance with NFPA 72. The fire alarm system shall be monitored by an approved entity that has been listed by a nationally recognized agency to perform such service.

Fire alarm systems that require two or more zones, or have addressable fire alarm panels, shall report a signal to the monitoring company wherein the fire alarm initiating device and its location can be determined. The monitoring company shall then report this information to the emergency communication center dispatch.

Exception: Monitoring by a supervising station is not required for:

  Single- and multiple-station smoke alarms required by Section 907.2.11.

  Smoke detectors in Group I-3 occupancies.
3. 3.
  
  Automatic sprinkler systems in one- and two-family dwellings.
4. 4.
  
  Proprietary systems as approved by the Fire Department.
