5.70.091 Transient Merchants during Summer of 2026
During the summer of 2026, the Kansas City metropolitan area will host several international sporting events, which will likely foster several related applications for Transient Merchant licenses during this period. The Governing Body recognizes the unique and special regional significance of these international sporting events as well as the expected demand and enthusiasm for related merchandising. Accordingly, notwithstanding the provisions of Section 5.070.090 B. (which prohibits a transient merchant from operating or conducting business or activities in areas not zoned C-3, CP-3, M-2, MP-2, CP-3J, IP-2J, PEC-3J, or PRB-3J), Transient Merchants may also operate or conduct business or activities in areas zoned C-O, CP-O, C-1, CP-1, C-2, CP-2 and MXD districts during the period of June 14, 2026 through July 12, 2026, subject to meeting all other licensing and other requirements set forth in Chapter 5.70. Additionally, notwithstanding the provisions of Section 5.70.050 A. (which limits a Transient Merchant license to a period of 14 days), a Transient Merchant license may be issued to be valid during the entire period of June 14, 2026 through July 12, 2026.
