5.51 Oil & Gas

5.51.030 Definitions.

The following terms as used in this chapter shall, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise, have the respective meanings herein set forth. These definitions supplement those contained in Section 1.04.010.

To the extent that these definitions may conflict with those contained in 1.04.010, these definitions shall control:

    Blowout Preventor- Shall mean a mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic, or other device, or combination of devices secured to the top of a well casing including valves, fittings, and control mechanism connected therewith which can be closed around the drill pipe, or which completely closes the top of the casing and is designed for and capable of preventing blowouts.
