16.110 Residential Code for One- & Two-Family Dwellings

Section E3902.5 of the International Residential Code for One- and Two-Family Dwellings is hereby amended to read as follows:

E3902.5 Unfinished Basement Receptacles.

125-volt, single-phase, 15- and 20-ampere receptacles installed in unfinished basements shall have ground-fault circuit-interrupter protection for personnel. For purposes of this Section, unfinished basements are defined as portions or areas of the basement not intended as habitable rooms. [210.8(A)(5)].

Exception:

1. A dedicated receptacle supplying a garage door opener, fire alarm, security system, sump pump, refrigerator, freezer or electric vehicle charger.
